Democratic Meeting; a conversation with Alan Grayson

 Alan Grayson

Jair A. Vargas & Nicole Murillo

Last night, amid the strong storm, we had a 45-minute conversation with Alan Grayson. He was very flexible to answer all questions from our members and visitors. I can't support anyone prior to the primaries according to our DHCF by-laws. However, he is the only Democrat in this District thus far, so I don't find it a problem in making this comment. I strongly believe. Alan Grayson is a great guy to represent us for the US House of Representative for Polk, Osceola and Orange ( District 9).
For those that missed this important meeting, I recommend for you to visit:
www.congressmanwithguts.com
I also watched some videos on YouTube showing his fight against the military contractors that were stealing taxpayer money during the Bush administration, as well as, other interesting topics.
As I was reflecting back, it was shocking finding out that in a District that is mostly Hispanic, only 21% of us voted, in comparison to more than 60% of white votes.
We must be well informed and vote for the best! Please put aside ethnic labels. Hispanic candidates in the Republican side are following the wrong ideological platform, motivated by immediate personal interests.
Sometimes, people with a Latino name and heritage are their own worst enemies. The winners in this category are Marco Rubio and his followers. I don't think Hispanics are in agreement with the raising of retirement age, increase in social security contribution, deportation of all immigrants, tax increases for the working class, and the reduction of tax for big corporations, etc.
This is the information we should tell everyone, to avoid being deceived by the speeches, and the rhetoric powered by fear. I believe that we would gain more respect around the world, if we choose to invest money caring for the people and not on the war!

Our DHCF Meeting March 21, 2012; Representative Darren Soto

 State Representative Darren Soto
John Cortes Candidate for Florida House State Representative, District 43, Democrat
Jair A. Vargas, President-DHCF, Betsy Franceschini, Political Director and Representative Darren Soto
Miguel L. Lopez, Former President of the DHCF

Wednesday, March 21, 2012-We had the distinguished pleasure of Representative Darren Soto and Betsy Franceschini, Florida Democratic Party Hispanic Outreach Political Director. We received a lot of information on the status of our nation. Furthermore, Ms. Apryle Jackson, she is the president of Osceola County Education Association. She spoke about the educational system, and things that we can do to get involved to make things better. Members, along with those that were guests had the opportunity to interact during a Q & A at the end, which was on a positive note. Representative Darren Soto has had a proactive involvement within our community since he has been in office. Thanks you to the Executive Board Officials for their great efforts in working together as a TEAM. It was a most informative meeting.
